moon ship

I've been wanting to get down and take some night shots of these boats for a while. Despite the moon it was pitch black at the time. I lit the boat with a single speedlight by setting a long exposure and running around firing the speedlight at the boat - three times for fill light and one for key light. This long exposure meant the moon was blown out and the clouds were too blurred and soft, so I composited in the sky from a shorter exposure. I think (hope) it all comes together quite nicely.

This shot is from the same place as the last post but much more recent. There was a summer festival in the park so it was very crowded on the lake, and this couple just wouldn't go where I wanted them to for the shot I was imagining. No problem. Three separate shots and a little help from photoshop gave me just what I had in mind.

Early morning on the lake. This is an HDR composite of three separate exposures. I didn't have my tripod with me so it is hand held, resulting in a few problems in the HDR image but not to bad at this size.
